BASE 4 Internal Auditor Training

This course is about occupational health and safety for large employers working in the forest sector.  Participants should be active in their company's business operations and have knowledge of their safety program, as they will become the company's internal auditor and conduct their company's audit.  Note that in order to perform SAFE Companies or COR eligible audits, a participant must be a permanent employee of the company that they will audit.  IMPORTANT: Please read the attachment here, to understand the certification process 

This course is available in English only.  For classroom sessions, group participation is required. 

Participants will receive a certificate of completion for successfully completing the course: theory, workshop and competency conversation. 

Upon successful submission of their student audit, participants will receive a certificate of qualification and be recognized as internal auditors, subject to program maintenance requirements that will be discussed during the training.

Challenge Process

Experienced Auditors, who believe they are proficient with the course content, may challenge the training requirements and proceed directly to the competency conversation.  The competency conversation tests all the course topics and is typically conducted through a 1-2 hour online meeting.  Credit will be granted for modules where competency is demonstrated.  If not fully successful in the challenge process, applicants will be required to complete regular course requirements where competency was not achieved, including payment of the full regular course fee. 


The combined online and classroom instruction and materials is $525 (includes 5% GST) - refreshments and lunch included.

The challenge process is $94.50 (includes 5% GST).

Prerequisites for Training and Challenges

Individuals applying to become internal auditors must have evidence to support that they are a permanent employee of the employer being audited.  No prerequisite education or training is required; however, it is recommended that those chosen to be internal auditors are familiar with the main operations and processes of their employer and have appropriate technical writing skills for generating the BASE 4 audit report.

Additional Information

The classroom session starts promptly at 8 am and completes at 5 pm.  If you are used to using a laptop or other device for taking notes, please bring that device.  If not, blank paper and pen are provided.
