Small Employer OHS Refresher Training

This course provides a refresher for an ISEBASE/SEBASE company employee who has completed the initial OHS training and submitted at least one of the company's audits within the previous 3 years.

Completion of this course is a requirement for internal auditors of ISEBASE/SEBASE sized companies wishing to renew their auditor certification.  Training must be completed within their 3 year training expiry date.

Refresher training IS NOT REQUIRED to be SAFE certified.  SAFE certification is maintained with yearly audit submissions.

Goals & Objectives


Small Employer OHS training. 

This course is available in English.  For classroom sessions, participants are expected to participate in group activities.


7 hours.  There are four options to complete your refresher training: 

Option 1 - Join Day 1 of Small Employer OHS classroom session. Topics covered:

  • Why be SAFE Certified?

  • Legal requirements for safety

  • Evaluating your current safety program

  • Corrective Action Logs

  • Risk assessments

  • Emergency Response Plans

Option 2 - Join Day 2 of Small Employer OHS classroom session. Topics covered:

  • Case study of workplace safety plan

  • Worker orientation, monitoring, inspection

  • Incident reporting, injury management

  • Sample safety programs

  • Audit tool

  • Build your safety program and audit

Option 3 - Join both days of Small Employer OHS classroom session


Option 4 - Complete the Small Employer OHS training online - Online learning is self-paced, flexible 24/7 access with the expectation of participants completing the course within 6 months of enrollment.

If I choose classroom training. what do I need to bring with me?
For the benefit of classroom activities, it is recommended that you bring your current Safety Program Manual or a laptop if your Safety Program Manual is in an electronic format.
