Joint Health and Safety Committee Training

This course provides Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) fundamentals for both forestry harvesting operations and wood products manufacturing operations.

It meets the training requirement for new joint committee members and / or worker health and safety representatives, as outlined in section 3.27 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. It is also available to anyone with an interest.

This course is available in English only. Participants will receive a record of completion for finishing the course.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Explain the purposes of and refer to the Act, the Regulation, and the Guidelines as they relate to Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSCs)
  • Describe the composition, role, authority, and responsibilities of a Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Follow JHSC terms of reference to carry out the work of the committee, including: identifying unsafe situations, addressing workers' concerns about safety, making recommendations for improvements, and understanding the annual requirement for a JHSC evaluation.

8 hours in a classroom setting. The course consists of facilitated instruction.

Scheduled session fee: If a session is scheduled and listed on our calendar, the enrollment fee is $340.00 (+ $17.00 GST)
