Details: WorkSafeBC, in partnership with BCFSC, will host an online information session to help employers, falling supervisors, and all other workplace parties, prepare for upcoming inspections in falling operations.
Webinar participants will learn about WorkSafeBC’s risk-based inspections for hand falling operations and responsibilities for safety in forestry, including effective supervision for hand fallers.
Hand fallers have one of the highest injury and serious injury rates. WorkSafeBC’s increased focus on risk-based inspections has identified inadequate supervision as a primary factor in workplace incidents at hand falling operations.
Everyone in the workplace, including forest owners and licensees, prime contractors, supervisors, and the fallers themselves, share responsibility for health and safety, and each party must play a role in controlling risks and creating a safe work environment.
