Individual Owner Operator

This occupational health and safety course is for Individual Owner Operators (IOOs) working in the forest sector. Participants should be active in their company’s business operations and be knowledgeable of the work activities.

The Individual Owner Operator (IOO) course is suitable when the owner:

  • Is the only on-site forestry worker
  • Has at most one administrative support person who does not work on a forestry worksite
  • Does not hire employees or contractors

This course meets Individual Owner Operator initial training requirements for SAFE Certification and the WorkSafeBC COR program.

This course is offered in English only and participants are expected to fully participate with the training content. Participants will receive a record of completion for finishing the course.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand basic safety rights and responsibilities
  • Understand the SAFE Companies audit process and WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition (COR)
  • Understand tools, templates, and advocacy services available for their business
  • Gain the skills to complete their audit submission.

Duration & Delivery

Approximately 4 hours. This is an online course with self-paced, flexible 24/7 access and the expectation of participants completing the course by Dec 31 of the current year. Participants who need more time can contact SAFE Companies to enroll again.

Online learning: $105.00 (includes 5% GST)
