The SAFE Companies Individual Owner Operator (IOO) program is the first of its kind in Canada.

It recognizes that today, individual owner operators are often the backbone of logging operations. Their work arrangements, the pressures they face, and their responsibilities are different from firms with even one employee.

Individual owner operators have as much right to a safe workplace as everyone else, and the IOO SAFE certification program will give you the confidence of knowing that you have an organized approach to taking care of your safety needs, and show everyone you work with that you’re committed to going home safely at the end of every day.

IOO SAFE is for you if, as the owner, you are the only on-site forestry worker.  Your company may have an off-site administrative person who does not work on a forestry worksite, but you are the only person on site. You also don’t hire any employees or contractors.
