Become SAFE Certified

Who can be SAFE?

Forestry workers and/or employers in the BC forest or forest product sectors are eligible to become SAFE certified. It takes commitment, completion of training, and a sufficient safety management system (with successful audit) to become a SAFE Certified Company.

If you have a registered BC Company with an active WorkSafeBC account there are just three steps to become SAFE Certified:

  1. Register (form and fee)
  2. Train or engage an auditor
    -  Small employers - train a permanent employee/owner (submit form, fee, training)
    -  Large employers - hire a BASE external auditor 
  3. Certification Audit report (assessment of safety management system)
 
 

SAFE Certification has a three-year cycle: 

SAFE Certification is maintained as long as you continue to submit successful audits each year as outlined in the cycle above. See Maintain SAFE Certification.
 
After successful completion, your company will be issued a SAFE certification number, and showcased as a SAFE Certified Company. You will also receive a letter outlining audit results, a Corrective Action Log (CAL), and a timeline for your next audit.
