SAFE Certification process

There are three steps to becoming SAFE Certified:

SAFE Companies Registration
Submit a completed SAFE Companies registration form and fee.
Training
Submit a training enrollment form and fee. Complete OHS training.
Certification Audit
Submit a successful Certification Audit.

SAFE Certification

Once you have successfully completed all three steps, your company will be SAFE Certified. You will be issued a SAFE Certification number, and your company will be shown on the SAFE Certified Companies list posted on our website www.bcforestsafe.org/safe_companies/whos_safe.html.

You will also receive a letter outlining the company’s audit results, a Corrective Action Log (CAL), and a timeline of audit submission deadlines.

SAFE Certification Cycle

SAFE Certification has a three year cycle:

Year 1 – (Re)Certification Audit
Year 2 – Maintenance Audit
Year 3 – Maintenance Audit

Year 4 onward - repeat years 1-3

SAFE Certification is maintained as long as you continue to submit successful audits each year as outlined in the cycle above.
