2010 Vancouver Island Safety Conference - Are you there?Vancouver Island Conference Centre
Saturday, October 1, 2011

“Cycle of Leadership…
Where do you fit in…What is your role?”

Plans are well underway for the 6th annual Vancouver Island Safety Conference.

This year’s conference addresses how woodlands and wood products manufacturing operations can improve their business success by reducing health and safety risks.

The conference will bring together about three hundred participants including contractors from every phase of the forest industry, health and safety committee co-chairs, employers, union representatives, worker representatives, policy makers, and industry leaders. Practical information and tools will be provided for supervisors, workers, owner-operators, or operations managers to help better understand the Cycle of Leadership and recognize where they fit in, as well as the role they play in health and safety at their workplace. The conference is no charge to delegates and is fully funded by industry sponsors.

Conference highlights include a keynote address by Minister of Forests, Steve Thomson; comments by injured worker representative and young worker Michael Lovett, and presentation of the BC Forest Council’s Safety Awards. Planned conference workshop topics are: “Ergonomics”, “Bill C45 and its application to leadership”, and “Leadership and Supervision”.

More conference information is included on the attached document, along with a registration form to save to your hard drive, fill in, and send as an e-mail attachment to: visc@bcforestsafe.org OR you can fill it in, print it out, and fax it to 250-741-1068.
